gunnerde Posted October 17, 2023 Share #3 Posted October 17, 2023 I believe this may be a commemorative medal for Japanese author Natsume Sōseki. The kanji along the top of the back of the medal are the same as his name, and the dates on the front align with his birth and death years. Further, the text in the middle of the reverse says something to the effect of "Commemorating the publication of the complete works". I'm not sure what the rest of the text says, but I'm thinking this was issued by a book club, literary society, or other similar entity to commemorate the work of a prominent Meiji-era author, and is not military.
