Salvage Sailor

Looks like a Japanese medallion and years match those of Natsume Soseki, The man portrayed on the Japanese thousand yen bill

Mr. Bushido

As already pointed out, this is an item related to Natsume Soseki.

The letters written next to the portrait are a stylized version of the first letter of “【漱石】Soseki“.

This medal was created to commemorate the publication of Soseki's collection of works.

The orderer was a voluntary organization called the “Nippon Book Club‘’, which was disbanded in the 1970s.
