Shreck Posted October 3, 2023 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2023 I got this from a garage sale and I was told this is a ww1 or even pre ww1 German pouch of some sort. This came with a few other things but I just don’t know art it is. I think it has something to do with the field artillery. Thanks
Solution Proud Kraut Posted October 3, 2023 Solution Share #2 Posted October 3, 2023 Fussartillerie (foot artillery = heavy artillery) existed in Germany until WW I. Your pouch looks like a case for an optical instrument like an aiming circle or telescope sight. The letters "BR" make me believe it´s for a "Bussolenrichtkreis" (compass with aiming circle). Are the numbers on the top 5588 or 5566?
