Nkomo Posted November 14 Share #1 Posted November 14 A Holy Grail item was finally added to the collection recently. A collector acquaintance showed me a set he had personally brought back from Desert Storm. He found his set in a bunker and stated that they were Iraqi used. According to Camopedia, these were used by the Kuwaiti Police and installation guards. I think it is entirely possible these uniforms were taken from Kuwaiti stores and then pressed into service by the Iraqis. Thanks to a collector friend (Russ), he provided me a picture of the 6 color barbed wire pattern in use with an Iraqi SF Officer post Desert Storm. My shirt is well used, sun faded, and has holes. Oddly enough, this shirt also has a laundry tag with non-Arabic writing. Could possibly be from where it was cleaned after coming back from the Middle East or perhaps an SF advisor used piece. No way to know for sure. Another Bragg find.
Allan H. Posted November 15 Share #2 Posted November 15 This is outstanding! I remember an Iraqi POW coming in with this camo. At first, the thought was that it was US, then after looking at the pattern, the thought was that it was Saudi. My Saudi contacts said no, so I assumed it was some odd, private-purchase camo. Very cool to have it identified. Allan
