patches Posted November 27, 2023 Share #1 Posted November 27, 2023 Found this one, a January 1943 photo of women of the Leningrad Mint boxing up loads of newly made Medal "For the Defense of Leningrad, the medal was adopted only the month before in December 1942, so we gather these are thee very first batches made. medal awarded naturally to all members of the Red Armed Forces, but also to many select civilians who were involved in one way or another at Leningrad. Uncertain if the medal was only made here, or if the Mint made other military medals. Note the worker in the foreground wears one, who knows maybe every one who worked at the Mint received one.
