Basic Rifleman Posted December 24, 2023 #1 Posted December 24, 2023 I recently came across a collection of Japanese medals and have had a difficult time identifying the few medals I'm posting here. I would be deeply appreciative if someone could tell me what they are, and or translate the text. Most of the medals in the collection dates from the 1890's through about 1930 or so. Many have been identified, but these are the remaining medals I have absolutely no idea about. I've tried using google translate, but that can be a fickle beast sometimes. Thanks in advance for looking - I look very much forward to identifying these medals and putting to bed this months-long search for a correct ID.
Mr. Bushido Posted December 25, 2023 #2 Posted December 25, 2023 It is assumed that this medal was created to commemorate a student speech contest held in Hiroshima Prefecture before WW2.
Basic Rifleman Posted December 25, 2023 Author #3 Posted December 25, 2023 Thanks for the ID on this medal. I had assumed the medal was military in nature because of the other medals in the collection, but absolutely appreciate knowing what it is after all these months of searching!
