TP1953 Posted February 2 Share #1 Posted February 2 I was visiting this antique store, and this sword for $95 caught my eye. I was wondering if anyone knew what it was and if it would be a good buy?
SARGE Posted February 4 Share #2 Posted February 4 It appears to be a broken replica of a Model 1860 US Staff & Field Officer sword. The guard appears to be broken with the clam-shell and D guard portions missing. So, it was possibly a fraternal sword since it has a cast hilt instead of having a sharkskin grip wrapped in wire. TP1953 Posted February 4 Author Share #3 Posted February 4 Ah, a replica, so not real then, also broken too. So what would be a good price, or is it worth nothing at all?
SARGE Posted February 5 Share #4 Posted February 5 It is a bit too rough for me to even consider buying it I am afraid. Maybe $50. for parts. Just my humble opinion mind you.
TP1953 Posted February 5 Author Share #5 Posted February 5 Alright, thanks, I would try if it was real, but thanks for telling me it is just a replica. I’ll pass on this one too.
