As 365engbn said, wouldn't want to be pulling the trigger on that one.  The business end may be safer.  Great bring back though!

Very nice!

 

These handmade weapons were most common in the 1959-1962 period. By 1963 the majority of full time VC were equipped with factory made weapons, much of them captured, and handmade weapons were relegated to part-time village level guerillas and such.

 

Obviously these leave a lot to be desired from a safety standpoint, but a lot of these fired handmade shotgun shells so perhaps the pressure was not that great, and the VC were also doing a lot of reloading of empty casings. I am just speculating as I haven't been able to find anything in the way of detailed information on what powder they were using, but perhaps some of them could have been made lower pressure as well.
