365engbn Posted February 12, 2024 #2 Posted February 12, 2024 Thats real cool! I wouldnt want to be behind the trigger. lol
SARGE Posted February 12, 2024 #3 Posted February 12, 2024 That is neat! Crudely made does not quite cover it.
Scarecrow Posted February 12, 2024 #4 Posted February 12, 2024 As 365engbn said, wouldn't want to be pulling the trigger on that one. The business end may be safer. Great bring back though!
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted February 13, 2024 #5 Posted February 13, 2024 Very nice! These handmade weapons were most common in the 1959-1962 period. By 1963 the majority of full time VC were equipped with factory made weapons, much of them captured, and handmade weapons were relegated to part-time village level guerillas and such. Obviously these leave a lot to be desired from a safety standpoint, but a lot of these fired handmade shotgun shells so perhaps the pressure was not that great, and the VC were also doing a lot of reloading of empty casings. I am just speculating as I haven't been able to find anything in the way of detailed information on what powder they were using, but perhaps some of them could have been made lower pressure as well.
