skinsfan Posted December 15, 2024 #1 Posted December 15, 2024 Hello,I am hoping some one can give me a positive ID on this guy....The stamping looks like a UK war dept stamp but it is pretty faded...other ones are stronger but I do not know what they mean...also curious about the (rank?) shoulder pips...there are button holes all the way around waist and the inside is of a material I have not encountered...There is a name for these that slips my mind at the moment...Thanks in advance folks
Mr. Bushido Posted December 15, 2024 #2 Posted December 15, 2024 Hello. I don't know the details of the uniform. But I think the fabric is a type called "AIRTEX." It was mainly used for Commonwealth military uniforms.
skinsfan Posted December 16, 2024 Author #3 Posted December 16, 2024 Thats the word i was forgetting...Thanks
skinsfan Posted December 18, 2024 Author #4 Posted December 18, 2024 Is it possible I am posting in the wrong section?...Scott
ScottG Posted December 21, 2024 #5 Posted December 21, 2024 In case you decide to Google them its actually Aertex. Not sure on this style though. Scott
skinsfan Posted December 21, 2024 Author #6 Posted December 21, 2024 I am beginning to think this is a British item...can make out a solid 1943 date in the rectangular box also that does not show well in picture
earlymb Posted December 22, 2024 #7 Posted December 22, 2024 I agree, I think it's a British Aertex tropical BD Jacket with a removable buckle for the waist strap.
