Hmm You know what I am thinking, is that perhaps Wardrobe goofed, and wanted to make it the Late War 7th Indian Division (The first type was a Black Disc with Arrow), and gave it two Crossed Arrows, instead of the one, perhaps even getting confused with the British 2nd Infantry Division's Crossed Keys. 

From the movie 1917, it came out in 2019.

 

The unit is the 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment, which in 1917 was in the 23rd Brigade 8th Division, and then that Formation Sign is correct, it is a combination of the Brigade and Division Signs.

A legit one, East & West Riding Area, a 2013 British T.V Mini Series called Privates, takes place in 1960.

Uncertain if this is a real Formation Sign or one made up for the movie.

A made up Formation Sign worn by Nicol Williamson in the 1968 The Bofors Gun, a movie that takes place in West Germany, North Germany where the Brits are stationed. Williamson himself was in the Army in the mid 50s, Royal Artillery, says "as a gunner in an Airborne Division", making him a Para right, but the only full division was a Reserve one, a Territorial one, the 16th Airborne Division, the unit he was in as active duty, was probably the 16th Airborne Brigade then.

This should be the 16th parachute (airborne)brigade ca.1970

 

 

 

 

Post # 60: Looks like a 1st Division variant, doesn´t it? The 1st Div was garrisoned in Verden an der Aller, Northern Germany as part of the BAOR.

David Niven wearing the Army of Occupation, the British Army of the Rhine and a DLI Arc (Durham Light Infantry), which looks like it was drawn on LOL.

The is the 1968  Before Winter Comes. bit of an error though, movie takes place in Austria, so he should of been wearing the old 8th Army patch which after VE Day was redesignated as British Troops Austria. 

One more shot of Niven, his Cap Badge, that looks like a made up one right, a Welsh one with  with Crossed Swords or something on it.

Here we catch a glimpse of the 11th Armored Division and indiscernible Arc on the Sherman Commander in Band of Brothers in the Operation Market Garden episode.

Now here's a made up Formation Sign  we would have to say.

 

The Ack Ack Crew at the Airfield in Band of Brothers, it is in the design of the Southern Command, but is not Royal Artillery, which Anti Aircraft were under, but a kinda White-ish  Light Khaki-ish shade with Black Stars, these Southern Command Formation Signs where colored of course by Arm, and the closest one that even remotely looks like these being worn, is the Royal Army Pay Corps, a Yellow with Dark Blue Stars LOL

 

. Far better if they went with the accurate Sign, the  Anti Aircraft Command (SFC please post a photo of this AA Command patch please).

SHAEF, albeit placed on wrong position on uniform, on Danny Kaye in a 1961 WWII set Comedy film On The Double. Kaye as a GI in England is ordered to impersonate a high ranking British General he looks like LOL. Diana Dors with him, who I believe is a Nazi Spy there in England, a German masquerading as a British Auxiliary Territorial Service NCO.

From the same Danny Kaye movie, here actor Wilfrid Hyde-White wearing the incorrect post war U.S.Army Europe Blue patch rather than the WWII SHAEF Black one. He too is also wearing in the wrong spot on the uniform, the armband, think it's a General Staff type.

A made up one, worn too low we see, a Fleur de Lis looks like, got a made up Arc, don't know what it says. Movie is Orders are Orders from 1955
