I've found this set of binocular things for sale and would like to know what they're really called. Closest info I've found was that they're for 88mm flak cannons and the sighting apparatus used four of them.

Does anyone have a real name for them? I saw they're usually quite expensive (when listed) but I don't want to overpay. Is there a general price for something like this? My main knowledge base is helmets and medals, nothing in this realm.

Hi Big Iron.

What you have there are a set of Carl Zeiss 12 x 60 FLAK Binoculars BLC with a sunshine hood / sunshade. These instruments  would not have been fixed to a FLAK gun such as the 88mm but to the rangefinder. The image I have attached show the binoculars on the top of the range finder for use in positions such at the Atlantic Wall where the guns were in use for direct fire and also underneath for sky observation.

This link will take you to a very informative article https://www.binoculars-cinecollectors.com/12_x_60_binoculars_and_associated_.pdf

As far as value I don't have that experience but have seen them at £1000.00 upwards.

Gunner is 100% right. I don´t know if the official designation is mentioned in the linked file. It`s  a "Richtungsweiser-Fernrohr" or "Richtmann-Fernrohr" 12 x 60 fuer Entfernungsmesser 4 Meter Basis (Rm-F 12x60 für Em 4m).

I´m afraid I can´t give you a correct translation but sometghing like direction pointer telescope for 4 meter basis range finder.
