Eric Queen Posted January 16, 2020 Author #109 Posted January 16, 2020 It has been slow on the doggie front lately but I did pick up a couple more dog unit group photos

SARGE Posted March 2, 2020 #112 Posted March 2, 2020 Here is a "Wehrdienst - Ehrendienst" photograph album for an Army (Heer) Feldgendarm. This NCO was a dog handler and there are several nice photos of his police dog "Rex" in the album. His dog served along side him on active service from 1943 to the end of the war in 1945. He even filled out an Urkunde for his service dog and included it in his remembrance album. One has to wonder what happened to these police trained Service Dogs at the end of the war.
Eric Queen Posted March 2, 2020 Author #113 Posted March 2, 2020 Very nice, Sarge. Any dog related albums are super rare IMO. Please post more as time permits.
SARGE Posted March 4, 2020 #114 Posted March 4, 2020 Very nice, Sarge. Any dog related albums are super rare IMO. Please post more as time permits. Glad you enjoyed these photos. Here are a few more from the album. It seems this Feldgendarmerie unit had two dogs but the album owner was the dog handler for the German Shepard named "Rex". I am not certain what breed the other dog shown is.
Eric Queen Posted March 4, 2020 Author #115 Posted March 4, 2020 Thank you. Just super. That is a great piece. Interesting that the date on the Urkunde is the day after the Germans surrendered (which hopefully tells us that Rex survived the war)
Eric Queen Posted March 20, 2020 Author #116 Posted March 20, 2020 Just picked up this nice one. Notice he is wearing a military dog tag
