Proud Kraut Posted January 5, 2021 Author #28 Posted January 5, 2021 Thank you very much for your nice words, guys! I´m still working on the chassis. I learned that this is an incredible detailed kit, but tough to build. Definitely not for beginners. The chassis and motor contain of not less than 92 parts including many PE parts w/o the wheels! Here´s what I have so far.
ArtyScout Posted January 6, 2021 #29 Posted January 6, 2021 Wow, this kit looks like it will put you thru the paces. But the work you've done so far looks great. Semper Fi. Manny
Proud Kraut Posted January 11, 2021 Author #30 Posted January 11, 2021 Thanks Manny! At the moment I´m working on the body and the crane. It will definitely need much time to complete this kit.
Proud Kraut Posted January 12, 2021 Author #31 Posted January 12, 2021 I have started the driver´s cab. Very detailed with many PE parts (please notice the gearbox). I can´t remember building a more detailed 1/35 kit in the past so I was even more surprised that the front doors aren´t separate parts. Finally I had to cut them off, too bad.
Proud Kraut Posted January 12, 2021 Author #32 Posted January 12, 2021 Another picture taken from the other side.
Old Marine Posted January 13, 2021 #33 Posted January 13, 2021 Wow, that’s some great, precise work. You’re making great progress.
ArtyScout Posted January 13, 2021 #34 Posted January 13, 2021 Nice Lars. Looks like you're giving that PE bending tool a workout. Looking good. Semper Fi. Manny
Proud Kraut Posted January 20, 2021 Author #35 Posted January 20, 2021 Lots of work to do in the house so not much time for modeling last week. Before I´ll start the final assembly the Scammell received a coat of primer.
Proud Kraut Posted January 22, 2021 Author #36 Posted January 22, 2021 Airbrush day. I used Vallejo Khaki Brown (71.024) as base color).
Proud Kraut Posted March 22, 2021 Author #38 Posted March 22, 2021 Will try this British "bubble" camo the first time. The scammel now built and masked.
Proud Kraut Posted April 11, 2021 Author #39 Posted April 11, 2021 Lots of problems with the correct masking. Finally I decided to paint on the camo pattern. I used Vallejo Black Grey (71.055). I also started to apply pigments (MIG Gulf War Sand). Still have to add some of the details, cables, accessories etc. and the decals of course.
ArtyScout Posted April 11, 2021 #41 Posted April 11, 2021 Excellent work on those tires. They look great. Looking forward to your camo scheme. Semper Fi. Manny
Proud Kraut Posted April 21, 2021 Author #43 Posted April 21, 2021 Thank you! Still working on the Scammell. Small parts, interior etc. I will add decals and pigments for a more dusty look the next days.
Proud Kraut Posted April 22, 2021 Author #46 Posted April 22, 2021 Many thanks, now I think the Scammell has the right desert look.
ArtyScout Posted April 23, 2021 #48 Posted April 23, 2021 Great desert weathering Lars. Semper Fi Manny
Proud Kraut Posted May 16, 2021 Author #49 Posted May 16, 2021 As you can see I improved my workplace. Here´s the Chevrolet after it was air brushed still in the spray booth.
Proud Kraut Posted May 16, 2021 Author #50 Posted May 16, 2021 Here´s a picture of the Chevrolet after the color has dried. And yes, it´s pink - "UK Desert Pink" / Vallejo 71.400.
