A young man donated another gem to us – a WWII German Kriegsmarine (Navy) EM/NCO Regenumhang or Rain Cape made from rubberized field gray fabric. These were used by Kriegsmarine Küstenartillerie (coastal artillery) units. They had to be ready for action in any weather, and these would certainly be a necessity along the French coast with it's notorious rainy weather.   The cape is made from medium weight rubberized material, and is field gray in color, as used by Kriegsmarine land based units. It features a 5 button front closure, as well as slits on the side for the arms, which are held closed with 2 buttons on each side. The Navy pattern buttons are painted in the field gray typical of Coast Artillery uniforms. They are maker marked on the back with “C.T.D.” the manufacturers code for Christian Theodor Dicke from Ludenscheid. This company also produced belt buckles and other insignia for the Third Reich.   The cape features a lay down collar to which are sewn Kriegsmarine enlisted litzen, with gold stripes on green backgrounds.   Attached to the top of the cape is it's rubberized fabric rain hood, made large enough to cover a steel helmet. It's secured to the cape by buttons on the shoulder and collar areas.   Rain gear from WWII is somewhat uncommon as it was used after the war, or thrown away when the fabric stiffened due to poor storage.

It turns out this rig most likely is for Rifle Grenades.    It seems to be quite rare indeed.

I just came across this well made British style paratrooper wing which I have a sneaking suspicion is a reproduction or it could be a current Indian or Pakistani paratrooper wing.  I have never come across one where thick twisted cordage was used to form the suspension lines of the parachute.  This piece doesn't look like it was ever sewn to anything as the visible stitching threads seems to keep the rear material tightly sewn to the back of the Khaki wool.

Came across this great photo, Italy 1944.   A group of Officers, one of which is Army, the one Paratrooper has the Divisional Shooting Star Insignia of the 4.Fallschirm Division in metal form on his cap.
